23 Countries With The Most Girl Groups and Boy Bands

At WireGrind, text processing and data visualization have played a central role in creating our rhyming dictionary, our reverberation, and our VST effects. It's also great for gathering random bits of information from the internet and using it to make nice plots.

The above chart shows the 23 countries that have the highest combined total number of girl groups and boy bands. Information was extracted from a relatively small number of Wikipedia pages. This was then used to generate data points for the chart. In total, we counted 1,012 girl groups and 754 boy bands across 57 countries.

South Korea topped the chart with a combined total of 424 groups. This was followed by Japan, and United States with a combined 363 and 316 groups, respectively. Mexico, South Africa, and Ukraine made the 22nd spot with a three-way tie. Each had a combined 8 groups.
